Dividend Miles Multiplier FAQs answers

Do my Multiplier miles count towards Preferred status?

You can use Multiplier miles for award travel but they don’t count towards Preferred status. So, if you fly 1,000 miles and triple your miles, you’ll earn 3,000 miles. 5-7 days after you multiply miles, you'll see 2,000 miles in your account and another 1,000 flight miles after your trip. However, only the 1,000 flight miles count towards Preferred status.

When do my Multiplier miles post? When can I use them?

It takes 5-7 days for Multiplier miles to post in your account, and you can use them as soon as they post (as long as you have an existing Dividend Miles account).

If I buy Multiplier miles, when do all of my miles post?

Your multiplied miles will post to your account within 5-7 days and your flight miles will post after you’ve completed your flights. For example, if you fly 1,000 miles and double your miles for a total of 2,000 miles, you’ll see 1,000 miles right away and the other 1,000 miles after you fly.

I want to multiply my miles but my travel companion does not. Is that okay?

Yes, you can choose whether or not to multiply miles. If Joe, Sally and Tom are flying 1,000 miles together (on the same reservation), Joe can triple his miles (2,000 Multiplier miles + 1,000 flight miles = 3,000 total miles); Sally can double her miles (1,000 Multiplier miles + 1,000 flight miles = 2,000 total miles); and Tom can choose not to multiply his miles (1,000 flight miles only).

How do you calculate miles?

We calculate Multiplier miles just like we calculate your miles for a normal flight: based on your flights, the class of service and Preferred bonus miles. Because Preferred bonus miles are included, different passengers on the same itinerary may have different mileage amounts. If the sum of these categories equal 1,000 miles and you choose to double your miles, you will be awarded 2,000 total miles for your trip: your usual 1,000 plus 1,000 purchased Multiplier Miles. If you triple 1,000 miles, you’ll earn 3,000 miles on your trip: your usual 1,000 miles plus 2,000 purchased Multiplier miles.

Can I multiply my miles on a codeshare flight?

Yes, you may multiply miles when you book on usairways.com or when you check in on the web. When you travel on US Airways or on one of our partners, standard accrual rules apply. For travel on our partners, estimated flight miles may differ from the flight miles you actually accrue. Either way, the Multiplier miles will match the miles you pay for.
