Welcome aboard

May 2007

Doug Parker
At this time of year, many people are planning summer travel whether that includes exploring new destinations or relaxing in familiar settings with family and friends.

US Airways customers have access to over 800 destinations worldwide with US Airways’ membership in the Star Alliance, which celebrates its tenth anniversary on May 14.

Star Alliance is a network of 17 member airlines, including US Airways. It’s not only the first but it’s also the largest airline alliance in the world, offering customers access to 855 airports in 155 countries with 16,000 departures per day.

These numbers will continue to grow when two more internationally known carriers, Air China and Shanghai Airlines, join Star Alliance later this year. And Turkish Airlines is on board to become a member in 2008. Ten years after its start there are very few spots on the map that Star Alliance doesn’t cover.

As impressive as the numbers are, sheer size has never been the driving force behind Star Alliance. The main goal of the network is to make the travel experience smoother and more rewarding for customers of member airlines by providing them with:
  • Access to more destinations
  • Coordinated schedules so they don’t waste time waiting for connecting flights
  • Access to lounges at more than 650 airports regardless of which Star Alliance carrier they are flying with
  • The possibility to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles on all Star Alliance member carriers.

Members of US Airways’ frequent flyer program, Dividend Miles, can earn and redeem miles on any Star Alliance member carrier and these miles count toward Preferred status.

Star Alliance is a partnership among peers who have a similar view of the future of air travel and understand the needs of both business and leisure travellers in an age of increasing global mobility. At the heart of all this is a belief that although technology makes it easier to do business and connect with family and friends, nothing can take away from face-to-face human interaction. US Airways, as a member of Star Alliance, is committed to connecting people the world over and providing them with a safe, smooth travel experience.

So if an employee goes the extra mile for you, tell us about it by taking a moment to fill out an Above & Beyond card. It’s important to us to know what we’re doing right so we can reward our employees and they can keep doing it for you.

We hope you enjoy your travels with US today. Thank you for choosing US Airways.
