From world-famous Kaanapali Beach to the legendary “road to Hana,” Maui provides plenty of natural beauty punctuated with the sweet smell of tropical flowers, and views of dramatic waterfalls and brilliant sunsets. Humpback whales make the Maui coast a winter haven, while black sand beaches offer a reminder of pre-historic volcanic activity. The historic town of Lahaina bustles with galleries, shops and restaurants, but overall, the pace of the island is relaxed. The marine preserve at the sunken Molokini Crater offers outstanding snorkeling. Majestic, dormant volcano Mt. Haleakala offers stunning views of both sunrise and sunset, and the upcountry, with its fields of flowers and pasture land, offer a glimpse into the life of the Hawaiian paniolo (cowboy).
