What are Special Dividends?
Special Dividends are extra benefits you can earn when you fly with US – above and beyond the benefits you enjoy with your Preferred status.
How do I earn Special Dividends?
You can earn Special Dividends when you fly on US Airways and our partners and earn Preferred-qualifying miles and segments. If you're signed up to receive 'News & Offers' emails, when you earn enough miles to qualify for new Special Dividends, we'll email you. Then, you can log in and claim them. It's that simple!
How do I know how many Preferred-qualifying miles or segments I have?
Log in to your Dividend Miles account at usairways.com. If you're subscribed to receive our monthly e-Statement, we'll email you your balance monthly.
How do I know if I've earned Special Dividends?
If you're signed up to receive 'News & Offers' emails, we'll email you when you earn new Special Dividends. You can also track your progress on usairways.com. Log in to your account and select 'Special Dividends' from the toolbox.
How can I see my Special Dividends benefits?
Log in to your Dividend Miles account on usairways.com, and choose 'Special Dividends' from the toolbox on the right side of your screen. You can track your progress and see your benefits there.
Do I have to be on usairways.com to access my Special Dividends?
Yes. Special Dividends are available only on usairways.com. Log in to your profile and select 'Special Dividends' from the toolbox menu. Don't have a profile on usairways.com? Sign up now on usairways.com – it's quick, easy and you can see your Special Dividends.
I'm already Preferred. How do I sign up for Special Dividends?
There's no need to sign up. You'll earn Special Dividends automatically when you fly with US!
Does this change my Preferred benefits?
Your Preferred benefits don't change. Special Dividends are extra benefits you earn when you fly.
I'm a Platinum Preferred member, am I only eligible for the 85,000 miles or 105 segments Special Dividends?
Actually, you're eligible for all Special Dividends levels, including the 35,000-mile and 60,000 mile levels. As you cross each threshold during the year, you'll earn Special Dividends. When you do, we'll email you about your new benefits. Then, all you have to do is log in to your profile on usairways.com to claim your benefits.
I earned Gold Preferred status for this year by flying last year. Does that mean I have Special Dividends waiting for me?
Not necessarily. Special Dividends are based on the Preferred-qualifying miles you fly in the current year. For example, if you flew 55,000 miles last year, you earned Gold status for this year. But if this year you've only flown 20,000 miles so far, you haven't yet earned Special Dividends.
I earned status last year through a promotion. Do I qualify for Special Dividends?
It depends. Special Dividends are based on Preferred-qualifying miles you fly, not your Preferred status (although they can be related). If you've flown the required miles or segments, regardless of your current Preferred status, you'll earn Special Dividends.
I used the ‘Buy up to Preferred' program. Do I qualify for Special Dividends?
It depends. You can only earn Special Dividends by earning Preferred-qualifying miles and segments. So you'll earn Special Dividends when you reach each level, but there's no 'Buy up' option for Special Dividends.
If I earn a Special Dividend, how long do I have to use it?
Most Special Dividends are good from the day you earn them until the end of the following February. So, if you earn the 'Nominate a Trial Silver Preferred member' benefit on November 15, 2011, you have until February 29, 2012 to make the nomination. Some Special Dividends have different expiration dates. For example, if you fly 60,000 miles or 75 segments and earn the FTD gift certificate, the expiration date is based on the day you earn the benefit. Your Special Dividends page will show you the expiration dates for all your benefits.
I earned a Special Dividend with one of your partners. How do I redeem it?
Simply log in to your account at usairways.com and select 'Special Dividends' from the toolbox. Then, on your Special Dividends page, you'll find all the information you need to redeem your benefit.
How do I nominate my friend to Preferred status?
Once you've earned the benefit, simply log in to your account at usairways.com and select 'Special Dividends' under the toolbar. Then, on your Special Dividends page, you'll find all the information needed to nominate your friend.
I'm not a US Airways Club member. How do I add my spouse/domestic partner?
First, you need to join the Club. Sign up at usairways.com/club or call US Airways Club Services at 800-828-8522. When you sign up, select an individual, one-year membership and leave the 'Spouse/Joint membership' field blank. Once your US Airways Club enrollment is complete, you can go to your Special Dividends page and you'll be able to add your spouse or domestic partner. Please note, if your spouse or domestic partner have different last names or mailing addresses a marriage certificate, domestic partnership agreement or affidavit of marriage/spousal equivalency is required and you'll need to call US Airways Club Services at 800-828-8522 to process your request.
I earned the 'upgrade on award travel' benefit. How do I redeem it?
We'll take care of it for you! Once you earn this benefit, we'll automatically search for any award tickets booked with your account for you and up to one companion and try to upgrade you. Your priority will be based on your Preferred status (but below passengers with paid tickets). Once we confirm your upgrade, we'll send you an email. You can be upgraded on any level of Coach award travel – off-peak, low, medium and high.
I earned a US Airways Club membership. How do I redeem it?
We'll take care of it for you! Once you earn 125,000 miles or 150 segments, if you're not currently a Club member, we'll add a US Airways Club membership to your account. You'll enjoy your Club membership from the date you earn it through the next Preferred program year. For example, if you earn your membership before December 31, 2011 it'll be valid through February 2013. If you're currently a US Airways Club member, when you earn this benefit, we'll extend your current membership through the next Preferred program year. So, if you have a Club membership expiring July 31, 2012 and you earn the Club membership benefit on December 15, 2011, we'll extend the expiration date of your Club membership from July 31, 2012 to February 28, 2013. There is no refund of already-paid Club membership fees.
