Worldwide Diversity & Inclusion
Supporting the person and the professional is a priority
Worldwide diversity and inclusion is more than just understanding the differences of race or gender. It’s about understanding and embracing the individual characteristics, values, beliefs and personal life experiences of our workforce and our customers. Diversity and inclusion is critical to our ability to attract, recruit, retain, develop and advance the best people from around the world. Different backgrounds, cultures and experiences provide wider, brighter perspectives that enhance our work culture, decision making and business strategy. We believe individual differences, combined and focused, can contribute to stronger results.
We foster an environment that celebrates diversity and our executives support employee programs such as Business Resource Groups (BRGs), which are sponsored by officers. Diverse backgrounds, cultures and experiences provide a wider, brighter array of perspectives that improve our work culture, decision making and business strategy.
A welcoming culture for all employees
Our commitment to diversity and inclusion is firm and demonstrated through our anti-harassment and non-discrimination policies, outreach and recruitment efforts, diversity education programs and our Business Resource Groups.
Profiles in Diversity Journal’s featured Doug Parker in the 'CEO Leadership in Action' issue.
Our company-sponsored Business Resource Groups are made up of people from similar backgrounds and are guided by members of the executive team. Each month, Diversity and Business Resource Group leaders plan company activities that promote the diverse interests, backgrounds and lifestyles of our employees.
Our Business Resource Groups and memberships continue to grow – with the fastest growth in our professional women’s network.
Corporate giving and volunteerism
We're committed to making our communities a better place. We support a broad range of nonprofit organizations as well as employee involvement in volunteerism and service on nonprofit boards.
Our culture is as diverse as our route map. We have competitive salaries and benefits like worldwide travel benefits, tuition assistance, 401(k) and medical benefits.

Women Worth Watching
Profiles in Diversity Journal
Suzanne Boda was named as one of Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 'Women Worth Watching' for 2013. The publication’s September/October issue is dedicated to acknowledging the achievements and personalities of leading women executives. Ten executives, including Boda, were nominated by colleagues, peers and mentors for demonstrating initiative and earning achievements or accolades within their industries.
LGBT equality group rates US top employer
The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) released its 11th annual Corporate Equality Index (CEI) report and US Airways was one of the top-rated companies among more than 680 corporations.
We voluntarily participate in the annual report and improved our 2013 ranking of 90% over last year’s 85% score. Delta, Southwest, Virgin America, JetBlue and Alaska Airlines also scored 90%, while United and American scored 100%. The 10 points separating most airlines from a 100% rating are gender identity-related medical plans. (Our benefits department continues to review medical coverage policies.)
HRC also praised our business resource group, Spectrum, for positively engaging in lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community events.
LATINA Style magazine selected US Airways for the third time as one of the 50 best companies for Latinas to work for in the U.S. in its LATINA Style 50 Report for 2012. US Airways was the only airline included among the top 50 companies.
