About Dividend Miles
Achieving Preferred status
To qualify for the next Preferred level, you'll need to earn a certain number of Preferred-qualifying* miles or segments within a calendar year.
It's easy to earn Preferred-qualifying miles. Just buy a flight on US Airways or any of our airline partners.* Book and fly First or Envoy Class on US Airways flights to earn 50% more Preferred-qualifying miles.
Silver | Gold | Platinum | Chairman's |
|
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Preferred-qualifying miles needed | 25,000 | 50,000 | 75,000 | 100,000 |
| Preferred-qualifying segments needed | 30 | 60 | 90 | 120 |
Once you reach the required number of Preferred-qualifying miles or segments, you'll be automatically upgraded to the next Preferred level and maintain that level until the end of the program year.** Please allow for up to 7 days for your new status to take effect.
For example, a Gold Preferred member who reached 75,000 Preferred-qualified miles in June 2011 would be upgraded to Platinum status and would continue to enjoy that status through February 2013.
When you fly one million miles with US, we'll upgrade you to Silver Preferred for as long as you remain an active Dividend Miles member.*** To keep your account active, just earn or redeem miles with US Airways or our partners within a consecutive 3-year period.
Buy Preferred status based on how many miles or segments you need.
Enjoy Preferred benefits for 90 days while you earn your way to Preferred status.
*The number of Preferred-qualifying miles you'll earn are based on actual miles, or on actual segments flown on qualifying paid tickets, whichever is greater. (There are certain discounted fares, like industry discounts, which don't count toward Preferred status.) However, if you're a Preferred member you will earn a 500 mile minimum per segment. Only miles earned on Star Alliance member airlines (and Virgin Atlantic) are Preferred-qualifying miles. ** Preferred-qualifying miles or segments flown January 1 - December 31, 2011 count toward Preferred status in 2012. 'Program year' is defined as March 1 - February 29. ***Includes flight miles earned on US Airways, US Airways Express and US Airways Shuttle flights only. Bonus miles, partner flight miles and other partner miles do not count toward million mile status.
