TSA’s expedited security screening initiative

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and US Airways are working together to implement an expedited security screening initiative at select airports.

If you're eligible and you opt in, you may not have to remove these items:

  • Shoes
  • 3-1-1 compliant bag from carry-on bag
  • Laptop from bag
  • Light outerwear or jacket
  • Belt

Eligibility and participation

You must be a U.S. citizen or Canadian citizen enrolled in NEXUS. TSA determines eligibility and applies a random factor associated with security measures.

If you're a Dividend Miles member, you may be eligible to opt in. To find out if you're eligible, log in to your Dividend Miles account and go to your profile. If you see the 'opt-in' button at the bottom, select it and save.

Once you’re opted in, we’ll share your travel information with TSA each time you fly. If you see 'TSA PreCheck' on your boarding pass, you can use the expedited security lane if it's available in your departure city. We’ll also recognize your status when you fly American Airlines if you include your Dividend Miles number in your reservation.

CBP Trusted Traveler programs

The best way to become eligible for expedited security screening is to participate in a CBP Trusted Traveler program like Global Entry, SENTRI or NEXUS.

If you already participate in one of these programs:

  • Enter your U.S. Customs and Border Protection 9-digit PASS ID or Known Traveler Number in your Dividend Miles profile.
  • We’ll automatically include your PASS ID in your reservation if you book on usairways.com or through Reservations.
  • You'll need to enter this number separately for any reservations booked before you added your PASS ID to your profile.
  • If you book through another channel, you'll need to provide your PASS ID or add it when you check in.
