Qualification for Special Dividends is based on the total Preferred-qualifying miles and segments you earn in a calendar year. To check your Preferred mileage balance, log in to your Dividend Miles profile at usairways.com. Bonus miles, Preferred status purchases, nominations or promotions may not qualify you for Special Dividends.

Special Dividends are exclusively online. Log in to your Dividend Miles profile at usairways.com, go to the 'Toolbox' under 'Quick links' and select 'Special Dividends.'

Award travel upgrades

Once you've earned this benefit, we'll automatically look for any award itineraries and attempt to process your upgrade up to 2 days before departure (7 days before departure for Chairman's Preferred and 4 days for Platinum Preferred). We'll notify you after the first attempt, and, if unsuccessful, we'll contact you again when the upgrade is successful. Upgrades are valid for Coach off-peak, low, medium and high award travel on US Airways within the contiguous U.S., Alaska, Canada, Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. The qualifying member must be traveling, and the itinerary must have no more than 2 passengers. You must book at least 3 days before departure. Travel must commence and finish between the day you earn the benefit and the benefit expiration date (the last day in February of the second calendar year after the benefit earn year). Unlike with Preferred upgrades for paid itineraries, we do not offer upgrades at check-in or have an upgrade standby list for award travel itineraries.

Nominations

Once you've earned this benefit, you can nominate an individual to Preferred status from your Special Dividends page on usairways.com. US Airways reserves the right to reject a nomination for any reason. The member nominated must have a lower or no Preferred status. Nominations must be made by the last day of February of the year after the benefit was earned. Nomination expiration dates are based on when the nomination is made: If made January 1 through September 30 of the benefit earn year, the expiration date is the last day of February of the next calendar year. If made after September 30 of the benefit earn year, nominations expire the last day of February of the second calendar year after the benefit earn year.

US Airways Club

All US Airways Club rules apply.

Day Passes: For US Airways Club day passes, we'll automatically add the day pass or membership to your account. US Airways Club day passes are transferable. To transfer your club day pass, just tell your friend/family member to stop by the club and provide your name and Dividend Miles number at the front desk. Club day passes expire 1 year from the benefit earn date.

Add-a-spouse: For the add-a-spouse benefit, you must be a US Airways Club member. To redeem, log in to your Special Dividends page and select 'Add a spouse.' If you and your spouse or domestic partner have different last names or mailing addresses, a marriage certificate, domestic partnership agreement or affidavit of marriage/spousal equivalency is required, and you'll need to call US Airways Club services at 800-828-8522 to process your request. Spouse/domestic partner nominations must be made by the last day of February of the year after the benefit was earned. The expiration date of the spouse/domestic partner membership will match the paid member’s expiration date.

Complimentary Memberships: For complimentary memberships, we’ll automatically add the membership to your account. The expiration date will be the last day of February after the Preferred year in which the benefit was earned.
