US Airways and ICCR working to raise awareness
Human trafficking is a widespread form of modern-day slavery. The purpose of human trafficking is exploitation of women, children and men which includes: prostitution, forced labor, slavery or servitude. Traffickers often prey on individuals who are poor and frequently unemployed or underemployed. US Airways is working with the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility (ICCR) to raise awareness of these egregious human rights abuses. This is part of our commitment to work toward ending this violation of the dignity of the person.
US Airways applauds the efforts of members of the ICCR, a coalition of nearly 300 faith-based and values-driven institutional investors representing $100 billion in assets under management. For over two decades ICCR members have been pressing businesses to ensure that they are not inadvertently complicit in human rights violations, specifically, child labor, violations associated with human trafficking and modern day slavery, including sexual exploitation and slave labor.
Our company believes that working collaboratively with investors, and other stakeholders, will contribute to the elimination of trafficking and help make transparent what has long been hidden.
