Vice President, Controller

Mike Carreon is vice president and controller of US Airways Group and US Airways, its principal subsidiary. He is based at the airline’s headquarters in Tempe, Ariz.

Carreon is the principal accounting officer and is responsible for the Company’s accounting operations including corporate accounting, external reporting, tax, financial systems and internal controls. Additionally Carreon has responsibility for the Company’s general purchasing function.

Carreon was named vice president and controller upon the merger of US Airways and America West Airlines in September 2005. Prior to the merger, he was vice president and controller of America West Holdings Corporation. Carreon joined America West in December 1994 as senior director of corporate audit and was promoted to vice president and controller in January 1996.

Prior to joining America West, Carreon served nine years in various accounting and audit-related management positions at United Airlines. Previously he served five years in the audit services practice of Arthur Andersen in Chicago.

Carreon is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Loyola University of Chicago. Carreon serves a member of the AICPA Airline Task Force and was a key contributor in the 2008 and 2011 rewrites of the AICPA Airline Audit and Accounting Guide.
